In the Old Testament, the Day of Atonement was a special day of clarity, humility, tranquility, and renewed focus on God. This video shows how the concept of the Day of Atonement extends from the sanctuary service through Jewish traditions to the Adventist understanding of the heavenly sanctuary.

The central question is: What does it mean to live in a time of atonement today? Since 1844, Adventists have understood the concept of atonement as a present reality in light of Jesus’ ministry in the heavenly sanctuary and His soon return.

This is not about external separation, but rather a conscious way of life: simplicity, prayer, fellowship, peace, gratitude, responsibility for God’s creation, and a life that continually realigns itself with Jesus.

The Day of Atonement thus becomes not just a date, but a journey: away from self, toward God—a life lived in the light of His coming glory.
