Do you want to stay focused, even when the going gets tough? Then let these thoughts inspire you. From Harold M. S. Richards

Reading time: 2 minutes

The Lord has given every man a mission. But dark forces will put obstacles in his way. That is as certain as the Amen in the church.

More promising plans will distract you, worldly prospects will entice you, slander will unsettle you, false accusations will torment you. You will be tempted to defend your character because pious people will spread lies about you, editors will attack you, and outstanding men will slander you. Pilate and Herod, Annas and Caiaphas may be against you, Judas will want to betray you for thirty pieces of silver.

You may ask yourself: Why is all this happening to me? Can’t you see that there is a diabolical trick behind it? They want to keep you from your work, want to prevent you from fulfilling God’s mission.

Therefore, keep at it! Keep at it!

Stick to the work that God has given you.
Let not the roar of the lion frighten you.
Don’t stop to throw at the dogs.
Don’t run after the devil’s hares.

Keep at it! Keep at it!

Let the liars lie,

Let the powerful join forces,
Let the devil do his worst,
Only don’t let them stop you,
To fulfill the mission
That God has given you to do.

Keep at it! Keep at it!

Your mission is not to get rich,
You don’t need to defend your reputation,
Your job is not to contradict the lies
that dark forces spread about you.
If you start doing that, you’ll soon be busy doing nothing but that.
Then you are working for yourself instead of for the Lord.
Instead, let your goal be as firm and immovable
Like a shining, radiant star.

Stay with the work!

If you are attacked, hurt, insulted,
Slandered, wounded, rejected,
Abused by enemies, abandoned by friends,
Despised and shunned by people,
Still persevere with unwavering determination,
With tireless zeal.
Follow the great mission of your life,
The goal of your existence,
Until you can finally say:
“I have accomplished the work
That you have given me to do!”
