Home Remedies for a Cold: Tea, Onion Syrup, and Rest
Do you feel a cold coming on and want to do something good for yourself? In this video from the series “Staying Strong During Cold Season,” I’ll share home remedies for colds and my personal experiences. The focus is on cold teas, homemade onion syrup, and taking time to rest and recover.
Discover Traditional Home Remedies for Colds
Many people associate cold season with a cup of tea, a warm blanket, and familiar home remedies. In the video, I share the remedies I personally use. These include oil pulling and a warm liver compress with yarrow.
The experiences shared here are not proof of effectiveness. Furthermore, traditional remedies may not be equally suitable for everyone.
Cold tea and soothing rest
In the video, I talk about herbal teas made with elderflower and linden blossoms. A cup of tea can also be a lovely opportunity to take a break and find some peace.
For me, sleep, retreat, and spending quality time together are also part of cold season. Especially with children, this can mean sitting together on the sofa, reading aloud, and taking time for one another.
Making Your Own Onion Syrup with Honey
Another topic is my homemade onion syrup. In the video, I show how I chop onions, put them in a jar with honey, and let the mixture steep.
This recipe is based on my personal experience with home remedies for colds. Honey is not suitable for children under one year of age.
Nutrition and Supplements During Cold Season
The video also covers nutrition, vitamin C, zinc, and herbal supplements. Whether a specific supplement is appropriate and suitable should be determined on an individual basis by a doctor or at a pharmacy. This is especially important for children and when taking other medications at the same time.
