Even King David longed for a deeper understanding of the Ten Commandments and wrote: "Open my eyes, that I may behold the wonders of your law". (Psalm 119:18)
In this series, we use a key term for each commandment. This key term is intended to open up the respective commandment to our understanding.
Some might think that Jesus was exaggerating when he said that anyone who looks at a woman with lust has already broken the seventh commandment. However, practice shows: Every rape actually begins in the heart, with an inconspicuous thought or impression that is spun further and developed into a desire. On closer inspection, this applies to all commandments: Every transgression or sin starts small!
God's Ten Commandments make us aware that sin must be tackled at its root.
