The Wise Housholder: Why we need the whole Bible

Many Christians have favorite spiritual topics: Prophecy (Daniel, Revelation, signs of the times), health message (diet, lifestyle) or love, grace and prayer. But Jesus shows in Matthew 13:52 that a wise housholder brings out “things new and old” from the treasury. This sermon calls for a biblical balance: drawing from the whole Bible explains faith, strengthens discipleship and prevents the one-sided presentation of truth. Based on Matthew 24 (faithful and evil servant), it becomes clear how one-sidedness makes people sleepy, dilutes truth and can even lead to attacks with words. The invitation: Choose spiritual food at the right time – in devotions, family, church and Sabbath school – and grow in the school of the kingdom of heaven.
